Programme of Attractions and Arena Events

In addition to the exciting annual battle displays, Farnham’s own Napoleonic historic redcoat regiment the 88th Foot (Connaught Rangers) is bringing all the fun of the "Regency Fayre" to the beautiful setting of Farnham Park with traditional English country market stalls, Napoleonic Punch and Judy, gentlemen duellists and a traditional Donkey Derby for children "The Charge of the Mite Brigade"

The French troops have vowed they will not be outdone and there will be traditional French country market stalls and the Dutch troops have promised to "get their clogs off" - and sell them! Over 200 troops are expected at this year’s event including artillery and cavalry.

The event is once more sponsored by Farnham Town Council in support of the 88th’s adopted charity, the Army Benevolent Fund without whom we couldn’t feed the troops.

Other stalls will include historical militaria ,books, paintings and artefacts. As in previous years the living history encampments will be open to the public all weekend before the two major battle displays.

The organisers invite the townspeople to join in the "apres bataille" activities and the restaurant marquee will be open to the public and there will be a Jubilee Concert given on Saturday evening featuring the Rushmoor Concert Band and the Surrey Army Cadet Force. The highlight of the concert will be a rendition of "Rule Brittania" "Le Marseillaise" and an abridged rendition of the 1812 Overture with live cannon and cavalry.

The people of Farnham will be invited to picnic before the concert and the Connaught Rangers will present a champagne prize "The Posh Nosh Award" to the most stylish picnic party. To round the evening off "nately" the Gallant 88th have organised a wild Irish ceilidh in the main marquee for all concert goers.
